Detroit 2016: Nissan TITAN Warrior Concept

A T-Rex to Ford’s Raptor? By ,

Bigger, better, badder seems to be a real trend in the auto industry right now. If it’s bold, in your face, makes lots of noise and looks fierce, then you’re on the right path. Well, Nissan’s not taken that fierce, in-your-face approach since the GT-R, but they’re back with something rugged and rough in all the right ways.

Unveiled at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the TITAN Warrior is, in a word: badass.

Pickups by nature are masculine and rugged by nature, but every now and then companies will beef up that masculinity to a testosterone-filled level (read: Ford Raptor), and Nissan’s stepped into the game full force with its TITAN Warrior Concept.

Curb appeal and presence on the road are more than half the battle, and this truck’s got all that in gobs. And gobs. And gobs. Imposing? Yup. Intimidating? Check. Aggressive? You bet.

With it’s custom grille, carbon fibre bumpers and overfenders, as well as functional hood vents, LED headlights (along with LED roof-mounted off-road lights) the Nissan TITAN Warrior makes a statement: “Get the hell outta my way, or else.” Short of full-blown warrior armor, this pickup is kitted out to get the job done.

It’s about more than just its looks though -- the TITAN Warrior’s got the chops under its massive, beefed up hood. A Cummins 5.0L V8 turbo diesel mill grinds out some serious power for all your towing and off-road needs.  With 390 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque controlled via a 6-speed Aisin automatic transmission, along with double-wishbone and stabilizer bar front suspension, as well as rear custom internal bypass reservoir shocks with custom reservoir mounts, the TITAN Warrior can take on anything you throw at it.

A full-size crew cab with 6.5ft bed means this mean-looking pickup isn’t just about intimidation but also about practicality, no matter what that job is.

Bigger, better, badder: Three words I would definitely use to describe the Nissan TITAN Warrior. Is it too much? Maybe for some, but for those true truck enthusiasts, the TITAN Warrior will answer that passion, that desire for a truck that’s not only practical, but badass in every way.

Truck, yeah.
