A red 1903 Ford Model A Rear Entry Tonneau, considered as the oldest surviving Ford vehicle in the world, was purchased at an auction in October by Executive Chairman Bill Ford, the great-grandson of the legendary Henry Ford.
The Model A is the car that kept Ford Motor Company afloat at the dawn of the 20th century. As the struggling automaker's cash balance stood at less than $250, Henry Ford received a full payment and two deposits totalling $1,320 on July 13th, 1903.
The unit revealed today is believed to be car No. 3, chassis No. 30, and the lone survivor among the three Model A cars sold on that day. It kicked off the yearlong celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Henry Ford.
