You might say that a new landaulet study at Maybach is seeking to let the rays shine in on the traditional luxury that's earned the brand its reputation.
For a new 'study' (concept, in common speak) they're re-visiting the landaulet- a machine with a folding roof which can be opened fully at the rear of the cabin while the chauffer compartment remains closed off. Underneath the opened rear roof, passengers are coddled by white leather arm-chairs and treated to an open-air experience in absolute luxury.
A special white color scheme adorns the car- with white velour carpeting and a white fabric roof-liner in addition to white leather seats. Sparkling white paint adorns the outside, and the whole package rides on 20 inch wheels.
Based on the Maybach 62 S, engineers removed the rear roof portion and reinforced the side walls invisibly with a tubular steel structure. A quick call up to Jeeves, and a console mounted switch dispenses with the roof panel in a mere 16 seconds, stowing it gently on the rear parcel shelf.
With power coming from a 612 horsepower V12 engine, the new Maybach concept landaulet ensures occupants get to their intended destination in open-air luxury with time to spare.
