The Draw: Chrysler’s LX-platform twins brought rear-wheel drive, available HEMI power, and decent all-around comfort to the family-hauler scene when they initially launched. Look for available All-Wheel Drive (AWD) on the Chrysler 300 from this generation, and specially tuned go-fast SRT8 variants of each, as well. Family-minded shoppers will gravitate more towards a unit powered by the 3.5L V6 or 5.7L V8. A plush ride, good performance, styling, and generous sizing were all commonly praised by owners.

What to Check:
Ensure all electronics work properly, paying attention to the vehicle’s lighting system, instrument cluster, and climate control. A “scan” of the model’s computer brain should be considered important for protection against hidden electronic problems that can be sporadic in presence and hard for mechanics to diagnose. A full mechanical inspection of the suspension is advisable, as some owners complain of premature wear of bushings and ball-joints. While the mechanic is under the vehicle, ask them to check the transmission, differential, and AWD system (if equipped) for signs of leakage. Speaking of leakage, check for any signs of moisture in the front footwells, which could result from a leaky sunroof drain tube that’s routed nearby.
