particularly amorous love affair with Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen's woolliest 911, having purchased more than 20,000 of the 50,000 plus total Turbos built since the car arrived on this side of the Atlantic in 1976.

The reworked Turbo will feature all of the upgrades that make the current 911 the best rear-engine Porsche ever built. redesigned naturally aspirated 911, in its various forms, became available as a 2005 model, while the revised Turbo will be debuting in 2006 as a 2007 model.

No doubt, the many enhancements carried forward from its naturally aspirated 911 stable mate combined with an upgrade in power and efficiency will make the next-generation 911 Turbo the most impressive artificially-boosted Porsche to ever grace road and track, and by doing so, invigorate the automaker's higher priced, and more profitable model lineup.

*Note: The first application of turbocharging was on large marine engines in the '20s, while it took until the late 1950s to offer turbo technology in automobiles.
