The system consists of four main components: a front-wheel position sensor, steerable solid hypoid rear axle, electric motor-driven actuator and control unit.

Which brings us directly to the unavoidable technology explanation, so let's keep it simple and get it over with. In a traditional vehicle, the front wheels do all the turning while the rear wheels stay more-or-less straight and are bullied into letting the vehicle turn by various forces of nature.

With Quadrasteer™, however, the rear wheels turn the opposite way to the front wheels at low speeds, which allows the vehicle to pivot much more dramatically, and that of course allows the vehicle to slip more easily into a parking space or whatever, the way a small car can.

At slightly greater speeds, the same technology applies and all those cones (or, in the real world, cement walls and trees and other vehicles) are spared.

Trailer towers know that the next issue here is backing up with four-wheel-steering, but backing myself up is hard enough work for me, so I didn't even try backing up the Sierra Denali. I am assured, however, that Quadrasteer™ works a treat with people who've tried backing up trailers before.
