Andre Lotterer, winner of the 2011 24 hours of Le Mans, will take part in the historic rally Boucles de Spa, on February 18. He is set to take the wheel of a 1977 Porsche 911 SC.
Participating in a rally will be a first for the Audi factory driver. But the trip to Belgium won’t be, as the German spent a fair part of his youth living minutes away from Spa. His dad, Henri, worked as a race mechanic for Porsche.
"I'm thrilled to take part in my first rally," he said on Endurance-Info.com.
"Myself, I was racing karts, but I still spectated a lot of rallies in Belgium when I was younger, to see my dad.
"So when I was offered the chance to drive at the Legend Boucles de Spa, I said yes immediately. They told me: 'If you win Le Mans, you can rally in Spa'. So I did my part."
