At the end of day 1, at the Rallye Baie des Chaleurs, it was drivers Ken Block and Alex Gelsomino from Subaru of America who were on top of the timing sheet.
They were followed by Patrick Richard and co-driver Allan Ockwell from Subaru Rally Team Canada.
In 3rd place was Mathieu L'Estage, who said this week he would consider a top-5 a "great result for his team" in this very competitive rally. After only 6 of the 17 stages of the rally done, his expectations are not even half way to be fulfilled.
Mathieu and Yanick Napert's competitors look vaguely familiar to the first one since his sister, Laurence-Fanny L'Estage and his brother, double-series-champion Antoine L'Estage, are also part of this 31st edition of the Rallye Baie des Chaleurs.
They are currently - respectively - in 5th and 6th position. Laurence-Fanny his racing with Joël Levac and Antoine L'Estage, with Nathalie Richard.
Antoine and Nathalie will have more than three minutes and a half to catch over leaders if the want to win this rally... and they do since they lost the lead of the championship after having to retire at last Rocky Mountain Rally, a month ago.
Day 2 of this rally is schedule to start at 9AM this morning and to end at 6PM, tonight. There is 32 cars listed for this rally, 3rd round of the 2008 Canadian Rally Championship.
