Based on the 9-5 sedan, the all-new Saab 9-5 SportCombi will make its debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. With the launch of this model, scheduled to arrive in the U.S. this fall, the Swedish automaker will bring a distinctive alternative to the premium large wagon segment.

The SportCombi will feature Saab’s XWD all-wheel-drive system along with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine producing an estimated 220 horsepower through a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. That's the same exact powerplant found in the 2011 9-5.

The wagon will offer flexible space with a floor that folds back in steps to access under-floor storage. When folded twice, an additional storage compartment is revealed. With the seatbacks lowered, the cargo deck is almost two metres long and offers an adaptable load capacity of up to 1,600 litres.

Available features will include Saab DriveSense adaptive chassis control, adaptive cruise control, bi-xenon adaptive lighting, keyless entry and start, tri-zone climate control and head-up display.

For additional convenience, the tailgate will be available with remote power operation. It can be fully opened and closed via a rotary knob in the driver’s door or a button on the car’s key fob.

The 81st Geneva Motor Show runs from March 3 to 13, 2011.
