French driver Tristan Vautier, who has been seen in FIA Formula Two Championship, notably, didn't have to wait long to win in America. He took the victory in the first race of the 2010 season of the Star Mazda Championship on Friday.

Starting from third, Vautier spent half of the race being Connor Daly before he could pass him. "I passed Connor on the straight between 12 and 14; his car looked quite hard to drive so I went to the right and he stayed fair, which I thank him for," said Vautier.

Daly completed the race in third place, behind Jorge Goncalvez who himself finished just 0.175 second behind Vautier.

Quebecker Mikael Grenier, 16, completed the race in fourth place. Anders Krohn followed him to complete the top-five. Krohn has started from the pole, but got stuck in traffic in the first couple of laps and was never unable to come back up front.

The Masters Class (45+) winner was Gerry Kraut. He finished in 12th position. In Expert Class (30-44), JW Roberts won from the 17th position.

Drivers and teams will be back on track next week for the GP of St.Petersberg.
