Frenchman Tristan Vautier recorded the best time of the pre-season Star Mazda Series tests in Barber Motorsports Park this week.
"The conditions were just perfect for the Star Mazda car and we got a lot of track time to learn about the car and the members of the team," said Vautier, who finished 5th in the 2010 series' standing.
"It's only the first test, but it gives us a good feeling going into the first race, which we know will be much different than here, and difficult with the changing conditions you find at a street circuit," he added.
Chilean driver Martin Scuncio was a fierce competitor of Vauthier during the three days tests. He topped the chart on the second day with a time that was the second best overall.
Quebecker Jérimy Daniel, who used to race in the Formula Tour 1600, recorded the 15th time of this test.
There were 16 drivers registered for the test, far off from the 40 cars fields the series was used to only years ago.
The first event of the season is scheduled for next week-end, at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, on Marchg 26th.
