Road to Indy scholarship driver Karam Sage scored his first victory this season at the Milwaukee Mile after a rain-delayed Round 4 to the Star Mazda Championship.
After taking the lead from second place on lap 5, Sage never looked back, leading 93 of the 98 laps of the race. He won with a confortable gap of 13.430 seconds on Matin Scuncio while also securing the fastest lap of the race at 27.763 (131.614 mph).
Nick Andries, who started from the pole position, claimed the last spot on this fourth podium of the 2011 season.
The race that was initially scheduled to run in the morning before the IndyCar race had to be rescheduled at the end of the day as water was pouring down the track in Milwaukee.
Young Quebec driver Jérimy Daniel was involved in a crash on lap 14 and forced the field to regroup during an 8-laps yellow flag. The restart was a strong moment of the race with Andries trying to regain the lead from Sage, without much success.
Tristan Vautier, still championship leader after this race, finished in fourth place while Gustavo Menezes rounded up the top-5. Connor De Phillippi, who started from the outside of front row, had to handle problems that relegated him in sixth place at the finish.
The next race is scheduled for next weekend, in Iowa.
