For 2012, ten automakers made Boston Consulting Group's Top 50 Most Innovative Companies list – the most since 2005.
Unsurprisingly, Apple, Google and Samsung led the overall rankings. Hyundai managed to close the top 10, just one spot ahead of Toyota. Meanwhile, Volkswagen fell from 15th in 2010 to 45th last year.
