With the fifth instalment in the Fast and Furious franchise just out in theatres around the world, the producers of 200 MPH are looking to ride the wave and make some money without spending too much.
Here’s the synopsis: "An amateur racer seeks to avenge the death of his older brother by entering the dangerous world of underground street racing in this adrenaline charged action thriller”. Talk about Oscar material.
We had to give it a chance though, so we determined to watch the trailer. Although it’s advertised as an action movie, we immediately thought we were dealing with a comedy.
In the space of 1 minute and 24 seconds, we were transported back to 2001 and witnessed a remake of the original The Fast and the Furious, minus the good bits, plus a few miniature models. Oh yes, this movie is headed straight for Cannes, one ¼ mile at a time.
As we’re car buffs and not movie critics, we’ll let you make up your own mind.
