Infiniti QX55

Infiniti has endured well-documented travails in recent years, even largely pulling out of the European market. But it remains committed to North America, and the new QX55 crossover is a pretty big deal here for the luxury automaker. We finally got to drive the thing in the spring.
From Vincent Aubé:
To introduce what is in essence a sleeker, coupe-style version of the existing Infiniti QX50, the Canadian division of the Japanese automaker invited a few members of the automotive press to drive its new crossover coupe and see, or at least begin to see, what we’re getting with this model fairly explicitly inspired by the 2003 Infiniti FX, the first true SUV to prioritize the sporty aspect over its utility side.
In general terms, the changes made to the QX50’s exterior design to render it sleeker and more aerodynamic aren’t all that major, but they definitely create a distinct appearance.

And from Dan Heyman:
The all-new Infiniti QX55 crossover-coupe may share a lot of bits with the QX50 crossover, but the QX55 is aimed at a younger buying group, according to Infiniti. It’s a type of buyer that likes some swoopy styling and practicality be darned. They like a good-looking car that drives well, and Infiniti has set out to deliver just that.
… this is an absolute cracker of a crossover that moves a lot faster than the numbers suggest. I’ve heard colleagues suggest they’d do well to provide a plug-in hybrid or hybrid option, but I’m not so sure it needs it.
The QX55 set out to “grow down” Infiniti a little and judging by the interest shown (from a distance, of course!) of many thirtysomethings during my test drive shows that it has the look. Infiniti has also shown me that they’re on to something in the performance department.
