Honda CR-V (gas-only and hybrid)

You won’t drive far in Canada without running across one of Honda’s popular CR-Vs and for good reason. They’re well-built, immensely capable in adverse conditions and have one of the largest interiors in the segment.


Add air-tight interior fit and finish as well as Honda’s patented free-revving turbocharged 1.5L 4-cylinder engine and you have a recipe for success on many fronts.
If fuel-sipping is of larger concern, then the hybrid model could be more up your alley. It’s available in both EX-L and Touring trims, and it uses less than a claimed 7.0L/100 km in the combined cycle.
Hyundai Tucson (essence, hybride et hybride rechargeable)

For 2025, the Tucson gets some new digs courtesy of a redesigned front grille, new wheels and bumpers as well. It looks somewhat tougher now as if it should be taken more seriously in this game.
Inside, it the facelift theme continues with an optional digital dash for your gauge cluster and infotainment. Base Tucson models, meanwhile, get a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, which is one of the biggest in the segment.
There are three powertrain choices: a 2.5L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder, a hybrid with a 1.6L turbocharged four-banger and a PHEV with up to 65 km of EV range. Power ranges from 178-187 hp and 178-195 lb-ft of torque, and the more rugged XRT version with its special wheels and tires and extra body cladding returns for 2025.
