6. Toyota Sequoia/Lexus LX 570
By all rights, the most imposing SUV on Japanese carmaker Toyota’s roster should be the Sequoia. And yet, manufacturer’s catalogue also includes the Lexus LX 570. It would be easy to assume that the two models share the same platform, but actually the Lexus is based on the (rare) Toyota Land Cruiser, a vehicle never sold in Canada. The Sequoia, meanwhile, more closely resembles the Tundra pickup, with which it shares the same chassis. Unlike the Tundra, however, the Sequoia has an independent rear suspension, just like the LX 570. The Toyota/Lexus full-size SUVs also share the same engine, a 5.7L V8 gasoline engine that can produce just over 380 HP, as well as closely matched maximum towing capacities (7,400 lbs for the Sequoia and 7,000 lbs for the LX 570).
