The 2019 Toyota Highlander is still the edition being sold at dealerships in Canada, but the next iteration is on the way. Toyota’s big people mover is still, as of this writing, the only model in the segment to come in an (optional) hybrid-powertrain configuration. Soon that will be possible as well with the next-generation 2020 Ford Explorer. We wouldn’t be surprised to see hybrid powertrains be added to the product offerings of other models in the category in the coming months and years.

It aging body notwithstanding, the good old Highlander is still considered one of the most reliable options in the category.
