Despite the mixed success of the BMW i8, Car and Driver is pretty convinced that the Vision M Next prototype presented in 2019 (and seen here) hints at what we can expect from the i8’s replacement.
For now, it's too early to confirm the return of the i8 name, but no matter, the magazine is quite certain that the manufacturer is preparing a sequel to this first exotic plug-in hybrid. And this follow-up would be more focused on high performance. However, patience is in order, because the future BMW half-gas, half-electric speed demon is expected in 2023 at the earliest.
2022 GMC Hummer

American automotive giant General Motors made a lot of noise earlier this year by showing a part of the snout of the first all-electric pickup truck for GMC. Not only is this a first for GMC, but the division has chosen to bring the Hummer name back to the market for the occasion. The automaker even announced a 1,000-hp rating and is promising extra-long range.
Competition is starting to take shape in the nascent niche of electrically-powered pickup trucks.
2022 Tesla Cybertruck

Speaking of which: If there's one American manufacturer that knows how to attract attention – of any kind - to its products, it's Tesla! The brand founded by Elon Musk certainly managed the trick last year with the memorable presentation of the Cybertruck, the most unusual pickup truck in history with its other-worldly triangular design that left many shaking their heads and virtually no one indifferent.
Just like the GMC Hummer, the Tesla Cybertruck promises breathtaking accelerations thanks to powerful engines and anxiety-killing range.
