The Japanese mini-4x4 won over quite a few folks when it arrived in North America. Charming and both cheaper and more maneuverable than a Jeep, and certainly very reliable, the “miniature Jeep” was aimed at a young audience.

While it's true that in 2021, this type of vehicle no longer has a place on our roads - its origins go back to well before the Samurai entered the market - the fact remains that a light, reliable 4x4 that doesn't guzzle too much fuel and can even handle very difficult off-road conditions has a lot going for it, and thus earns a spot in my dream garage.
