2023 Porsche 911 Dakar

This latest special edition of Porsche’s famous sports car is further proof you can never have too much of a good thing – as long as folks keep buying!
In this case, the Dakar variant may start out as a “lowly” GTS 4, but it gets quite divergent from there as it has been developed to conquer the sand dunes of the Sahara and the snow drifts of Scandinavia. Power is the same at 473 hp and 420 lb-ft as the GTS, but the ride height of the adjustable suspension has been raised by up to 80 mm, depending on your drive setting.
There’s cladding around the fenders and stainless steel reinforcement below the front and rear bumpers and along the rocker panels and there are no back seats. That change helps save wight, but it was also necessary in order to allow for inclusion of an adjustable-height rear suspension.
A PDK dual-clutch automatic is your only choice and if you want to really push the “uniqueness” envelope, you can add a livery reminiscent of the famous desert racing Porsches of the 1980s, complete with your own number plate.
