1966 Olds Toronado

This 1966 Oldsmobile has a lot of meaning for the Heritage Center. This Toronado model was the first mass-produced American front-wheel-drive car (the 1937 Cord with FWD had a limited production run). Powered by a muscular transversally placed V8, its powertrain was called the Unitized Power Package (UPP), a unit so reliable that it was even used in a big GMC motorhome in the 1990s.

1945 GMC

Yes, there are also trucks at the GM Heritage Center. One of the biggest is this GMC model from 1945, which featured an advanced cabin and was built just after the end of World War Two. It’s displayed alongside a smaller GMC commercial truck dating from the early 1950s.
