1903-1902 Caddy

Strange as it might seem, the Cadillac brand was actually born (in 1902) out of the ashes of the bankrupt Henry Ford Company (distinct from the Ford Motor Company, which came after). The brand quickly established itself as a luxury marque when it was bought by William Durant in 1909. One of the big advantages for the company was that the parts it produced for its vehicles were interchangeable, which made maintenance and repair that much easier. The two Cadillacs shown here date from 1903 and 1902, respectively.

This model is characterized by a battery-equipped platform that could accommodate different types of dismountable chassis! Further down, you can see an example of the legendary EV-1.
