Following the recall announced on January 21st regarding sticking accelerator pedals, Toyota Canada Inc. decided to suspend sales of eight models in its line-up. Seven production lines in five North American plants will also be suspended for a week.

The company has ordered their dealers to immediately stop selling the Corolla, Matrix, Camry, Highlander, Avalon, RAV4, Tundra and Sequoia until their accelerator pedals have been replaced.

The recall affects some 270,000 vehicles potentially affected by a sticking accelerator pedal, which has nothing to do with the recent floor mat debacle. TCI will ship replacement pedals to dealerships as soon as possible in order to promptly fix their customers’ vehicles.

Yaris, Sienna, 4Runner, Camry Hybrid, Prius, Tacoma, Venza, FJ Cruiser and Solara aren’t affected by the recall, as are all Lexus and Scion vehicles.

The affected vehicles are:
  • Corolla (2009 and 2010)
  • Matrix (2009 and 2010)
  • RAV4 (2009 and 2010)
  • Camry (certain 2007 to 2010)
  • Highlander (2010)
  • Avalon (2005-2010)

If you own one of these vehicles, you should contact your local Toyota dealer or call Toyota Canada’s toll free number at 1-888-869-6828.
