New six-speed for Camry 2.5
Mated to 2.5-litre Camry models is an all-new six-speed automatic transmission that features a new design torque converter, which enables quicker and more frequent "lock up". The transmission also features a new system to heat transmission fluid at start-up (cold fluid can delay shifts and contribute to wear).

Tundra's new V8
Another vehicle contributing to the "More Power, Less Fuel" cause is the Tundra full-size pickup, fitted with the all-new 4.6-litre V8 engine. Since this new V8 replaces the well-aged 4.7-litre unit, and is fitted to a six-speed automatic (versus last year's 5-speed), this vehicle makes the most dramatic "efficiency and power" improvement of Toyota models this year -- 12 percent more power at 310 hp, 11 percent more fuel efficiency.

The Tundra full-size pickup is fitted with the all-new 4.6-litre V8 engine.

Toyota says it is the most fuel-efficient "conventional" V8-engined full-size pickup in the market, with a combined city and highway rating of 12.1 L/100 km. (The Tundra continues to be available with the 5.7-litre V8.)

Bits and bites
The powertrains of Matrix and Corolla are unchanged for 2010, but vehicle stability control (VSC) and traction control are now available on more models.

Corolla has one item, I guess, that theoretically could increase fuel mileage -- a PTC heater. Basically, it's an electric heater element for quicker cabin warm-up. Maybe you don't need to run the engine as much, or as long, when all you want to do is get some heat into your body.
