Volkswagen Canada reached a major milestone recently, selling 2 million vehicles since the launch of the original Beetle in the country 63 years ago.
The first eight Volkswagens imported in Canada were showcased in Toronto, and only 94 units were ordered.
"We are so very proud to have a shared history with so many Canadians," stated Maria Stenstrom, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group Canada. "Our cars have become a part of people's lives, and we can't wait to see what the future will bring."
The 2 millionth vehicle sold by Volkswagen Canada was a Tiguan in Brampton, Ontario.
So far this year, Volkswagen's best-selling model in Canada is the Jetta (9,437 units), followed by the Golf (6,546), Tiguan (3,463), and Passat (2,001).
