Volkswagen News:

Of the nearly 30 800 Volkswagen sold in Canada in 2004, nearly 28% of the transactions occurred in Quebec and 40% were for diesel-powered cars.

In another Canadian Premiere, Volkswagen has finally unveiled a fresh face in its corner.  The new 5th generation Jetta is said to be 60% stiffer than the current 4th gen model. It will feature electromechanical steering and will be available with a 2.5-litre 5-cylinder that develops 150 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. For the first few months, only the 5-cylinder mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission will be available. A little while later, the 1.9-litre Diesel TDI will be available later and a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine producing 200 horsepower will follow suit. The Jetta Wagon will continue as a mk4 for at least another year. The 2005 will make its way to dealers by this March.

By the end of this summer, the New Passat will have hit our roads. Its official launch should take place at the New York Auto Show. Over the next 24 months, the Jetta and Passat Wagons, the Golf, the GTI and other models will be introduced.
