Goodyear Safety Survey: Canadians weigh in on mobile phones, road rage and SUVs.
Whether it's distracted mobile phone junkies,monstrous sport utility vehicles or belligerent road ragers, Canadians haveplenty of opinions about what drives them crazy on the roads, according to theresults of the Goodyear Safety Survey released today.
According to the Goodyear Safety Survey:
Chatter matters.
Despite the convenience of mobile phones and the important communicationslink they can provide in emergency situations, the vast majority of Canadianshave concerns about those who drive and chat. According to the Goodyear SafetySurvey:
- 93% of Canadians feel that operating a mobile phone while driving avehicle impairs a person's ability to concentrate on driving safely.97% of those 50 years of age or older, and 98% of those from Quebecfeel this way.
- 78% of Canadians feel the law should prohibit driving a vehicle whileoperating a mobile phone, with those in Quebec (85%) and AtlanticCanada (84%) leading the charge.
- Despite these criticisms, a third (33%) of Canadians who drive admit totalking on a mobile phone while behind the wheel.
