According to AllPar, Chrysler has registered ''Cuda'' as a trademark. That was the nickname given to the legendary Plymouth Barracuda which, along with the Dodge Challenger, made walls and windows shake in the 1970s.

The specific purpose of the name registration is still unknown, however. Ralph Gilles, President and CEO of the Dodge brand and Senior Vice President of Product Design at Chrysler Group LLC, has previously stated that the company was looking into ways to bring the 'Cuda back but had yet to make a move.

Remember, the Plymouth brand was phased out a long time ago but remains a registered trademark of Chrysler LLC.

Another possibility is that Chrysler is registering the Cuda name to prevent it from being used by someone else. However, with the return of the Challenger and the new Charger design expected to rediscover the model's roots, resurrecting the 'Cuda would seem like the next logical step.
