Jari-Matti Latvala (Ford) kept his advantage despite a late puncture to win rally Sweden ahead of Mikko Hirvonen (Citroën) and Mads Ostberg (Ford).

The Finn led by 35 seconds over his former teammate Hirvonen but his advantage dropped down to just eight after he suffered a puncture following a contact with a rock in the antepenultimate stage.

Latvala managed to maintain the lead until the final stage to take his first season win – a relief after his retirement in Monte Carlo.

As Hirvonen takes second place, Mads Ostberg (Ford) went to grab podium finish after Petter Solberg (Ford) also suffered a puncture in the same stage than his Ford teammate Latvala. The Norwegian was forced to let his fellow countryman take third position.

Evgeny Novikov (Ford) was able to reach the top 5, as Sébastien Loeb (Citroën) went to take sixth position after he lost six minutes after a road exit on Saturday.
