Frenchman Yvan Muller has secured pole position for Sunday's WTCC opening race at the Donington Park. His teammates Rob Huff and Alain Menu completed the all-Chevrolet top-3 in qualifying.
The timing of the flying laps was made crucial as the wet track slowly dried up during the session. Muller, who quickly set the fastest lap, had to wait until his last lap to regain the pole Huff had taken from him.
Tiago Monteiro's Sunread Seat finished just behind Menu's Chevrolet and just ahead of the independent car driver Colin Turkington, coming back to the series on BMW.
Darryl O'Young (bamboo Chevy), Franz Engstler (Engstler BMW), Tom Coronel (ROAL BMW), Javier Villa (Proteam BMW) - who will face a five-place grid penalty from the previous round - and Michel Nykjaer (Sunred SEAT) completed the top-10.
