Perfect Is as Perfect Does

Car design is a fickle business. When the various brands show their wares as concepts or prototypes it's usually one, two or even three years prior to the car becoming available to the public. Even if everyone is excited about the design when first introduced, automakers run the risk of having it look dated before even coming to market.

There should be no such concerns for the Nuvolari quattro concept however, as its simple elegance and evolutionary Audi design, while a natural progression for the brand, is a little on the provocative side.

Do you like what you see? If so then you may be intrigued with what Walter de'Silva, Head of Design for the Audi brand group, had to say: "The Nuvolari quattro outlines the direction that Audi's exterior and interior design will take. We are aware of our brand's heritage and will continue this success story in evolutionary steps."

From the rear the styling is pure elegance, incorporating beautifully tapering C-pillars that extend rearward to meld into an abbreviated decklid, not overly tall as has been the fashion during the last decade but more or less level with the beltline and front fenders. The light-emitting diode (LED) taillamps - that incidentally sense dirt and fog on the lenses to improve visibility - are artistically complex shapes, formed to match the bends and folds of the rear decklid and fascia. Gorgeous.
