Rob Huff (Chevrolet Cruze) and Norbert Michelisz (Seat Leon) won the final WTCC round in Macao. Chevrolet clinched constructors' championship. Yvan Muller (Chevrolet Cruze) had already secured drivers' championship earlier this season.
Yvan Muller knew he was already champion when the FIA excluded both BMW from Okayama’s results (illegal gearbox).
But the constructors’ championship was still mathematically open, even if Chevrolet had a huge gap in the standing. The American constructor finally went out of reach after race 1, when Rob Huff won ahead of Yvan Muller.
8th in race 1, Norbert Michelisz (Seat Leon) had the opportunity to start from pole position in race 2, due to the reverse grid rule. The Hungarian driver was very impressive in the streets of Macao, and he took his first WTCC win at his debuts on this tricky circuit.
In drivers’ championship, Muller stands first ahead of Gabriele Tarquini and Rob Huff. Sergio Hernandez (BMW) took independents’ trophy, while Norbert Michelisz won the WTCC rookie challenge.
