2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 - It May Be a Halo Truck But It's No Angel

After years of teasing performance truck fans with the idea of a Viper V10 powered Ram pickup Dodge is finally making good. The ultra-hot Ram SRT-10, recently unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show and Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, will be the most powerful production pickup on the planet, effectively stealing the thunder from Ford's Lightning.

Do you feel an interstellar truck war heating up? The top Ram sports an 8.3-L V10 pulled directly from the awe inspiring 2003 Viper. How much power? How about 500-hp and 525 lb-ft of torque? That's good for 0 to 60 mph (96.6 km/h) in just over 5 seconds.

"There is no replacement for displacement," stated Wolfgang Bernhard, Chief Operating Officer, Chrysler Group. "The Ram SRT- 10 delivers its astounding performance in a way that only Viper owners will recognize, with an endless rush of torque."

How does the results of its output compare with Ford's 380-hp V8 F-150 Lightning SVT? The Dodge will be at least 0.8 seconds quicker - that is until Ford ups the ante with its next-generation SVT hotrod pickup.

"We set out to build the Viper of trucks and we delivered," stated Jim Schroer, Chrysler Group's head of global sales and marketing.
