# 3 Eight Drive Modes
Nowadays, drive modes are nearly as common as seatbelts in vehicles. The TRX is certainly no exception. In this case, you get no fewer than eight of them; five are for driving on asphalt: Auto, Sport, Tow, Snow and Custom, the latter offering the driver the possibility of setting individual parameters to tweak the type of driving he or she prefers. Needless to say, the Sport mode is the sharpest.
But since this after all a pickup truck built to, for instance, fly over dunes in the Baja Desert (or Baja if you want to make like a local), Ram also provides three other modes: Mud/Sand, Rock and… Baja. This last one is my favorite; the Baja mode radically transforms the response of the shock absorbers so you can treat the worst bumps on an obstacle course with total disdain.
# 4 Wider, higher - more of everything!
Like its Blue Oval-badged rival, the Ram 1500 TRX benefits from wider tracks, and fenders to match. Overall, the pickup is six inches wider and its ground clearance is raised by two inches. The wheelbase is 0.8 inches longer at the front due to new suspension adjustments. Note that this widening is due to the use of this rim/tire tandem, which has a diameter of 35 inches.
