From an exterior design perspective the FXS brings memory to the Callaway restyled 'Sledgehammer' Corvette, with its deep front fascia. Its muscular fender swells and Coke bottle mid-section more closely resemble the current C5 Corvette. Its barchetta configuration, with cut-down windshield and side glass is cool conceptually but would never make it to production. The distinctive vertical oval grille, or more precisely the 'embossed' façade representing a grille, matches the long, vertical headlight clusters at either side. Its low spoiler and large lower air intakes, for added downforce and increased engine cooling, have caused industry pundits to dub it Toyota's 'Batmobile'. Some consider the concept's best view to be from the back, where a sculpted rear decklid sits above a single horizontal, ribbon-like LED brake light.
While the prototype in question will most definitely not ever see the showroom floor, it may represent future styling and technology directions Toyota will take when they indeed introduce their next generation production sports car. The automaker has vast resources, much more than any of its competitors, and a production car with FXS credentials would be good for the brand's image overall. We'll just have to wait and see what the Japanese powerhouse comes up with.
