But even within legal operating limits vehicle safety is a concern to every motorist, especially the police chief who has seen it all over 34 years of gritty police work. Lives lost due to alcohol, excessive speed and recklessness. For such reasons safety headed the list of objectives when Acura designed the MDX. Chief Graham noted that Acura's SUV features standard safety systems such as Vehicle Stability Assist and traction control, front and side airbags for driver and front passenger and anti-lock brakes all around. "If all vehicles on our roads were so well equipped, my officers would be making far fewer late night next of kin notifications."

Chief Constable Graham is a very strong proponent of safe motoring. Under his direction the Vancouver Police Traffic Enforcement section has implemented many cutting-edge initiatives designed to reduce the carnage on our roadways and the resulting loss of life.

Beyond its commitment to safety, the MDX is very well engineered, thought the Chief. "Honda really thinks of everything, little touches like express power windows that express up as well as down." As the Chief so aptly knows, little things can be of great importance when solving crimes or designing cars.
