The addition offers even more choice for customers who want the precise combination of power, affordability, luxury and sportiness to suit their tastes and driving styles.

Available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or optional 4-speed electronically-controlled automatic, the Camry SE features the same sport-tuned suspension and distinctive styling as the SE V6, plus an extensive array of standard equipment.

Choice of Two Powertrains

The Camry LE, XLE and SE can now all be fitted with Toyota's 2.4-litre, 16-valve, 4-cylinder engine with dual balance shafts, sequential multiport fuel injection and Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). This engine generates 157 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 163 lb/ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. V6 models are equipped with a 3.0-litre DOHC V6, producing 192 horsepower at 5,300 rpm and 209 lb/ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. Both engines are so fuel-and emissions-efficient they've been certified as Ultra Low Emissions Vehicles (ULEV).

A 4-speed Super Electronically-Controlled Automatic Transmission (Super ECT) is standard on LE and XLE models and the SE V6, and optional on the SE. A 5-speed manual overdrive transmission is standard on the 4-cylinder SE.

Confident Handling, Quiet Ride

The front suspension is equipped with MacPherson struts that decrease NVH through the use of springs, shocks and anti-sway bar with separate upper bearing points on the inner fender, reducing noise transmitted to the body shell. The anti-roll bar end-links are coupled to the strut housings, rather than the lower control arm, for increased control of body roll without excessive ride harshness. The rear suspension is similar to the front with the addition of dual lower control arms which increase stability and minimize camber change.
