The rest of the "interior" looks trimmed out in high-quality materials, in a minimalist modern gray and blood-orange motif. Its four floating seats are accessible via four clamshell doors, cool looking but not my favorite new trend when needing to get in and out amid crowded parking lots.

The truck's dual-spoke spoke steering wheel is closer in design to an old Citroen than anything that's ever come out of Japan or North America, but it looks stylish despite offering no thumb indents appreciated when driving with purpose. Twin control pods stick out of the steering column just behind, giving thumb access to just about every feature the Sport Truck incorporates, including a dial shifter with paddle controls. The instrument panel is are high-tech LCD system, while a center interface features CD and MP3 changers, along with other audio components.

"We've combined a radical design with a sophisticated, elegant interior to make it clear that Mitsubishi's view of the traditional pickup truck is anything but traditional," commented MMNA CEO Finbarr O'Neill. (Photo: Mitsubishi Motors North America)

By the way, you may not have noticed that the side mirror housings are transparent, designed to optimize forward visibility by additionally integrating translucent rearview mirrors.

"The Sport Truck Concept presents an urban vision of the light truck that is uniquely Mitsubishi in spirit and function," commented Co-chairman and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) Finbarr O'Neill. "We've combined a radical design with a sophisticated, elegant interior to make it clear that Mitsubishi's view of the traditional pickup truck is anything but traditional."
