Of course factory prepared race cars will also be built and featured at Le Mans, among other venues. While these will offer motorsport specific features even RS road cars will deliver race-spec goodies. For instance complete wheel hub assemblies, divided front and rear lateral suspension control arms, optimized rear axle geometry, a unique lightweight rear window comprised of acrylic, plus a carbon-fiber reinforced front hood and rear wing, will all be featured on the GT3 RS.
As amazing as the GT3 RS is and no matter how badly you want one, it unfortunately won't be sold in North America. What a tease. (Photo: Porsche) |
So what will all this speed and agility set you back? First you'll need a garage in Europe or the Orient (tres cher) as the U.S. and Canada will be the only markets not to get a version. No doubt a gray market car or two will find the way across either ocean, but for the most part the only RS models driving in North America will be on the track.
The price in Europe is 104,000 euro (CAD$160,000), plus specific national-market charges, which can increase the price by more than 15,000 euro (CAD$23,000) in Germany for instance.
In the end the GT3 RS will be the ultimate teaser for North American Porschephiles, another reason to loathe the lucky European and Asian markets that subject fewer restrictions on carmakers. Still, even from afar Canadian and U.S. fans will cheer them on while taking in a sports car race on Speed Channel, surer than ever that their favorite brand will prevail victorious.
