IPD C30
This C30 stands out for a number of reasons. The first of which is the color scheme. The car is painted in the colors of the Swedish flag; yellow and

blue. Next, to get in the IPD, a pair of gull-wing style doors has to be opened. Unlike the other two C30s, this one retains the FWD layout of the standard C30. Although the powertrain layout and displacement are original, the output certainly is not. With IPD's magic massaging fingers and the use of a Lysholm supercharger and a KKK turbo, they have extracted 384 hp and 408 lb/ft of torque out of the 2.5L engine. Helping to put the power to the tarmac are a KW coil-over suspension, a Quaife limited-slip differential and a set of grippy Pirelli P-Zero tires. Once again, the braking system also receives considerable attention; larger discs and massive callipers.

Also on display was a beautiful 1967 Volvo Amazon. If you remember, this was a 2-door wagon that looked about as threatening as the kittens in the Cottonelle commercials. At SEMA, for all to see, is a 600 hp monster version of the Amazon. The trick to get this kind of power from a Volvo is

simple: drop in a modern-day boosted worked engine. Mattias Vocks, owner of the car, dropped in a turbocharged 2.8L I6 from an S80 or XC90 T6. The whole of the car has been rebuilt or reworked and the final product is fantastic.

Volvo has apparently looked into many possible applications for their new baby. What with a tight chassis, a well proportioned body, a potent engine and the possibility of AWD, a WRC version of the C30 is not that far-fetched. The same could be said about the C30 replacing the S60 in Touring car competition. The future will tell. On thing is certain after having laid eyes on these great cars is that we cannot wait to drive it and bring you more on the all-new Volvo C30.
