Raw and raring to go

Pros: The Vantage might not be the fastest in the AM lineup, but the GT is the rawest of the bunch, but it’s not stripped or barebones, just race-bred and ready to go.

Cons: Unless you order it in silver (and really, why in the world would you order a silver Aston Martin?!), it’s going to look like your V8 Vantage GT is wearing lipstick. Yup.

2015 Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT Price and Fuel Economy: Shockingly, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT is actually “affordable” if that means hovering in the $100k range. In the US, the Vantage GT’s MSRP sits below the six-figure mark making it positively a steal. Here in the Great White North it’s just a smidge over $100k, but still “reasonable” by supercar standards.

Saving money at the dealership is a good thing since this V8 Vantage GT will eat up your saved dollars at the pumps with fuel ratings of 16.3L/100km in the city and 10.4L/100km on the highway.

Powertrain: The 2015 Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT is equipped with a naturally aspirated 4.7L V8 that produces 430 horsepower and 361 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels, and can be managed via a 6-speed manual (um, #savethemanuals FTW!) or a 7-speed paddle-operated Sporshift II automated manual transmission (which is fancy speak for automatic -- boo).

You’ll hit 100km/hr from a stop in just 4.8 seconds, and have the ability to hit a top speed of 305km/hr if you’ve got the nerve (and the open space on a track).

Changes and Improvements: Well, the entire Vantage GT is new for 2015. From its exterior look to its motorsport inspired engineering and performance. The Vantage GT features the same engine used in Aston Martin’s GTE and GT4 racecars, with minor tuning differences, of course.

Cargo Capacity: For starters, the 2015 Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT only seats two, but the trunk will swallow up 300L of goods. Though we don’t recommend bringing groceries on the track…

Safety: The Aston Martin V8 Vantage V8 comes equipped with four airbags, traction control and stability control.

Comparing the 2015 Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT: Bentley Continental GT Speed, Porsche 911 GT3, Jaguar XKRS, Ferrari California.
