Pros: The 2015 Cadillac SRX is a daringly distinctive 5-seat luxury crossover that serves up equal doses of refinement and exhilaration. From its striking exterior design to the available heated and ventilated seats, the SRX is pure Cadillac. Perhaps even more remarkable is the intuitive technology the SRX offers, such as the innovative Cadillac CUE infotainment system, OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, the convenient available rear vision camera, and the available Bose Centrepoint surround sound system.

Cons: SRX kind of drives heavy and lacks brake-pedal feel. Fuel economy is disappointing. Backseat headroom and outward visibility are both limited. And while CUE offers a slick touchscreen interface with motion recognition and voice command, it's generally slow to respond. Designers need to keep working on it.

2015 Cadillac SRX Price: Front-wheel-drive SRX models can be had in base ($41,030) or Luxury ($48,205) trim. If you go with all-wheel drive, you'll have a choice of three trim levels including Luxury ($50,830), Performance ($55,500), and Premium ($56,305). These prices do not include freight and delivery charges.

2015 Cadillac SRX Fuel Economy: Ratings in FWD configurations are 9.8L/100km on the highway and 14.2L/100km in the city. In AWD configuration, they increase to 10.4L and 14.8L/100km, respectively.

Improvements and Changes: New for this year is OnStar's inclusion of 4G LTE connectivity, with the ability to create an in-car Wi-Fi network to utilize the data plan.

2015 Cadillac SRX Powertrain: Power for all SRX models comes from a 3.6L V6 engine that produces 308 horsepower via a 6-speed automatic transmission. As mentioned, you can get this vehicle with FWD or AWD, the latter using a Haldex system with electronic limited-slip differential -- a great choice for snowy climates like Canada.

Cargo Capacity: The 2015 SRX can pack 844 litres of cargo in its trunk. Folding the rear seats increases the amount of room to 1,730 litres.

Safety: ABS, brake assist, electronic brake force distribution, auto-dry brakes, stability control, and traction control all come standard. Options include Forward Collision Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, plus the Safety Alert Seat which generates vibrations on the left or right side of the driver’s seat to signal which side a vehicle is approaching.

Comparing the 2015 Cadillac SRX: There's quite a bit of competition in the luxury crossover segment. Potential SRX buyers should also consider the Acura MDX, Lincoln MKX, or Lexus RX 350, among others.
