Timeless elegance, indeed

Pros: Look at it. A stunning piece of automotive engineering and design, the Rolls-Royce Phantom is what the British automaker is all about: elegance, class, sophistication, and an unmatched craftsmanship.

Cons: You need to dish out the dollars to own all that Britishness, and then some. These are not readily available cars bought by the masses, and truthfully if you want luxury and sophistication behind the wheel, you can find it for a fraction of the cost with other brands. However, you won’t find the Spirit of Ecstasy anywhere else…

2015 Rolls-Royce Phantom Price and Fuel Economy: Oh, silly pricing. Why on earth would you want to know that when it comes to the Rolls-Royce Phantom? You’ll only make yourself feel sad… but OK here goes:

  • 2015 Rolls-Royce Phantom (base) $407,400
  • 2015 Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe $438,325
  • 2015 Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe $479,775
  • 2015 Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended Wheelbase $480,175

If you’re not in tears yet, here are the fuel efficiency numbers: 16.8L/100km in the city and 10.3L/100km in the city.

Powertrain: Regardless of model chosen, you’ll be graced with the oh-so-lovely 6.7L V12 engine that produces 453 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque. All that torque is necessary to get the 5,840lb behemoth that is the Phantom moving forward in a brisk manner, and helps it reach 100km/hr from a stop in just 5.9 seconds (5.8 in the Drophead Coupe and Coupe).

Power is managed via an 8-speed automatic transmission and sent to the rear wheels.

Changes and Improvements: While there have been a multitude of special edition Phantoms since its redesign in 2012 (Pinnacle Travel Phantom, Chicane Phantom Coupe, Phantom Art Deco, Celestial Phantom, and so on), there are no major changes for the 2015 model.

Cargo Capacity: The 2015 Rolls-Royce Phantom will seat five, unless you opt for the Coupe models in which case that number drops to four. Trunk space is 460L, again unless you opt for the Drophead Coupe in which case that available space changes to 315L, and 395L in the regular Coupe.

Safety: The 2015 Rolls-Royce Phantom family comes equipped with all manner of standard safety equipment and airbags.

Comparing the 2015 Rolls-Royce Phantom: Bentley Continental, Porsche Panamera Turbo, Maserati GranTurismo, Aston Martin DB9 Volante.
