In January, FCA promised to unveil a new ultimate performance halo car, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, during the New York Auto Show week in April.
We’ve already shown you the first nine teasers, titled Cage, Reduction, Body, Crate, Forced Induction, Multiplication, Third Law, Race-Hardened Parts, Performance Pages, and No Pills. Now, here’s the eleventh, Lock and Load, which shares a feature that not only delivers the highest level of dedicated drag car technology offered in a production car but also, until now, could only be found in the aftermarket for "track use only" vehicles.
The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is the first-ever factory production car with a TransBrake. This exclusive performance feature enables it to produce launch forces previously unattainable by street-legal production vehicles. Quicker power delivery and higher engine launch torque potential are achieved by locking the output shaft of the automatic transmission to keep the car stationary until launch.
