Detroit, Michigan: The 2018 edition of the North American International Auto Show got underway this morning, and first order of business was the announcement of the choices for North American vehicles of the year. Were your predictions on the money?
In the battle for North American Car of the Year for 2018, the Honda Accord came out ahead of one rookie and one eternal rival -- the Kia Stinger and the Toyota Camry. You’ll recall that we crowned the new Kia sedan ahead of its Japanese rivals during our 2018 Auto123.com Awards.
The top pick as 2018 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year, meanwhile, is the Volvo XC60 (also our Auto123.com choice for Luxury Compact SUV of the Year). This second-generation model took the prize ahead of the Honda Odyssey minivan as well as the all-new Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
In the 2018 North American Truck of the Year category, the nod went to the redesigned new Lincoln Navigator, which nosed out the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 and Ford Expedition in the eyes of the jury consisting of over 60 Canadian and American automotive journalists.
