The updated new 2018 Subaru Legacy will be available at Canadian Subaru dealerships beginning this summer. While its powertrain options have not changed, modifications have been made to its front grille, bumpers and side-view mirrors. As well, the CVT has been supplemented by an available 7-speed manual mode, while the power brake unit has been revised to increase braking force.
To improve safety, Subaru has made the chassis more rugged, improved the child-seat anchors, and added a new door locking function as well as a collision-detection system that automatically unlocks the doors if required. Ergonomics inside the cabin have also been upgraded, with a revision of the steering wheel and its commands, improved sensitivity of the steering, the addition of two rear-row USB ports and a reworking of the A/C system. As for the infotainment system, it includes a 6.5-inch or 8-inch screen, depending on the version, and incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Also hitting the market this summer, the updated 2018 Subaru Outback will benefit from essentially the same improvements as the Legacy. Other notable changes include redesigns of the central vent grille, the centre panel, the A/C panel and the instrument panel. The Touring model now gets an 8-inch screen for the infotainment system, while the Limited and Premier versions add GPS navigation and LED directional headlights.
