You’re familiar with the Hyundai Veloster, but did you know that the Korean automaker concocted a mid-engined variant? The RM19 is the logical result of a program launched in 2012, which produced first the RM12, then the RM13, the RM14 and so on.

The exciting bit this time around is that the company confirms it intends to produce a model with central engine configuration, to be developed by its N performance division. And so, at midships on the model on display in Los Angeles sits a 390-hp 4-cylinder turbo engine.

The Atlas Cross Sport hasn’t even started beautifying our roads yet, but already VW is making plans for the model at the next edition of the Baja 1000. This version, adapted to handle tasks like crossing a desert, is equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine making 480 hp.

As the model is still in testing Volkswagen makes reference to a concept as it preps the models for the challenge of the Baja 1000.
