Toyota is broadening the appeal of its largest three-row crossover with the introduction of the 2027 Grand Highlander Hybrid Woodland Edition. Slotted alongside the returning XLE, Limited, and Platinum trims, the new variant injects an adventurous, outdoors-focused personality into the family vehicle.
A new participant thus joins Toyota’s campfire singalong, alongside the RAV4 Hybrid Woodland and bZ Woodland.

2027 Toyota Grand Highlander – What’s new?
Following similar Woodland treatment applied to the RAV4 and bZ Woodlands, the Grand Highlander Woodland Edition is no extreme off-roader. Instead, it introduces functional enhancements aimed at active families who frequently navigate light trail conditions or dirt roads during weekend getaways.

Visually, the Woodland Edition is set apart through blacked-out exterior accents, including dark window and headlight trim, black badges, roof rails, mirror caps and a black shark-fin antenna.
Mechanical changes for the Woodland centre around the vehicle's chassis and stance. Riding on matte-black painted 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in standard all-terrain tires, the Woodland Edition gains an additional 12 mm (0.5 inches) of ground clearance thanks to a combination of the chunkier rubber and taller suspension springs. Standard electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive provides additional traction across varied surfaces, while LED fog lights, mudguards, and a tow hitch round out the exterior trail-ready upgrades.

Inside, the cabin maintains its three-row configuration with an adult-sized third row, but adds lifestyle-oriented utilities. Second-row passengers get a 120V/1500W power outlet and a unique Woodland-branded removable centre console that doubles as a cooler fit to hold six 12-ounce beverage cans.
The interior also features all-weather floor mats, a heated steering wheel, and an upgraded rear cargo area equipped with enhanced lighting and a tailored cargo tray with pop-up dividers to secure smaller items.
Mechanically, the Woodland Edition relies exclusively on Toyota’s proven 2.5L 4-cylinder hybrid powertrain, producing a combined 245 hp. The powertrain delivers a manufacturer-estimated combined fuel consumption rating of 7.0L/100 km, the vehicle is rated for a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 lb.

Other changes for the 2027 Grand Highlander
Beyond the new Woodland trim, the rest of the 2027 Grand Highlander lineup receives subtle styling refreshes. The top-tier Hybrid MAX Platinum grade swaps out chrome and gunmetal trim elements for a stealthier blacked-out finish across the front grille mesh, hood trim, roof rails, mirror caps, and window surrounds. Base XLE gas-only and hybrid models gain revised 18-inch wheels with a dark gray painted finish.
The Grand Highlander is equipped with standard Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and a 12.3-inch Toyota Multimedia touchscreen across the range.
In Canada, the 2027 Grand Highlander comes in a choice of four grades across three different powertrains: XLE, the new Woodland Edition, Limited and Platinum.

Powertrains of the 2027 Toyota Grand Highlander
Powertrain choices across the broader 2027 lineup remain diverse. Non-hybrid XLE and Limited grades feature a 2.4L turbocharged gas engine generating 265 hp, paired with Dynamic Torque Control AWD and yielding combined fuel consumption ratings between 10.0L/100 km and 10.7L/100 km. At the top end, the performance-minded Hybrid MAX Platinum pairs turbocharged power with electric drive for 362 hp, full-time electronic AWD, 5,000 lb of towing capacity and a combined fuel consumption rating of 8.8L/100 km.
The 2027 Grand Highlander should start arriving at Toyota dealers across Canada later this year. Pricing will be available closer to the on-sale date.
