While GT3 cars have been competing at the 24 Hours of Spa in recent years, 2011 will be the first time that GT3 has been the main category.

The GT2 cars will not run in this year’s race, and 63 cars will be at the start on Saturday, including championship leaders Paolo Ruberti, Gianluca Roda and Raffaele Gianmaria with their Porsche 997.

Bert Longin, Filipe Albuquerque and Stephane Ortelli, who stand second in the provisional standings with their Audi R8 LMS, will be part of the main contenders, as well as the Ferrari F458 driven by Frank Kechele, Nico Verdonck and Matteo Bobbi.

Audi put a strong effort on this year’s race, with two teams (WRT and Phoenix) running two R8 LMS each, with the additional entry of DTM stars Timo Scheider, Mattias Ekström and Mike Rockenfeller.

Amongst the other cars on the entry list, there are Aston Martin DB9s, Mercedes SLS AMGs, Ford GTs, Lamborghini LP600s, McLaren GTs and BMW Z4s.

The GT3 class is divided in three categories: Pro-Cup, Pro-Am and Gentlemen Trophy, while a dozen of GT4 cars will also take part to the event.
